Gear Up For Lakers Basketball

Lakers Tripped Up During Texas Two-Step

Derek Fisher of the Los Angeles Lakers

Close game after close game. The Lakers can only edge out so many wins with long threes by Kobe. Yet seeing the Lakers go up by two points in the fourth quarter on a three pointer by Kobe with only twelve seconds left on the clock, you couldn’t help but think that the momentum would help the Lakers see this one through. Especially after watching Kobe’s clutch three the night before against the Rockets seal the deal.  With some unfortunate missteps in the final twelve seconds: Fisher’s shooting foul against Roger Mason Jr., Ariza’s traveling violation. It was not meant to be and the Lakers lost 112-111.

In addition to losing last night to the Spurs, the Lakers also had a brief scare as Fisher left the game in the fourth quarter with a groin injury.  Can it get any worse?  Jackson looked across the bench for help and saw Sun, no not some bright light of hope, instead Sun Yue the rookie for the Lakers.  Unfortunately Yue still has a ways to go before he can fill the shoes of Fisher or even Farmar for that matter.  So instead who does he turn to? Of course, Kobe for the point.  Thankfully, Odom returned to action on Tuesday night against the Rockets, but with Vujacic, Walton and Farmar still out the bench is thin.

The dust has settled in Texas and the Lakers walk away with one.  Next up the Lakers head back to the Staples Center where the “W” seems to always come a little bit easier, and the fans are always anxious for their free tacos.  They look to get back on their winning ways against the Orlando Magic on Friday, tip off is set for 7:30.
